The RMS Queen Mary is a retired passenger vessel that first set sail in 1936. Today, it is a tourist destination renowned for its beautiful architecture and spooky ghost stories… and, of course, it also features an on-site (on deck?) restaurant. Join us for a cocktail, look out onto our gardens, and enjoy our ingredient-inspired menu. Perfect for a special occasion or an impromptu dinner or lunch date, our Tap Room blends the historic elements of our property with an innovative, elevated menu.

Photos of Crabtree's Kittle House Restaurant & Inn

Our Taproom Bar, brought to the Inn in the 1950s by a former owner, was originally installed in the Fanny Brite pub in England. It was sent as a gift from a famous actress who frequented the Kittle House across the Atlantic, and installed in an (in)famous speakeasy in Manhattan in the 1920s. Once the speakeasy was raided by police during Prohibition, it was kept in storage for decades before a former owner purchased it at auction, and installed it in our Tap Room. Now, it proudly displays of our Spirits and welcomes our guests into the cozy, wood-paneled tap room.

Crabtree's Kittle House Restaurant and Inn

However, at the turn of the 19th century, the house and farm was sold & various establishments occupied the property for the next fifty years. If walls could talk, they would share tales of debauchery and wild nights from its brief tenure as a roadhouse during the 1920s, hosting many parties that we can only guess did not comply with the laws of Prohibition. They would speak of lesson plans and gossip from its brief tenure as a private girls school in the 1930s, & its conversion back into a tavern and exclusive guest house and retreat for citydwellers intent on escaping the crowds and prying eyes.

Overall, reviewers had a memorable and seamless experience at Crabtree's Kittle House and would choose it again for future events. Since 1790, Crabtree's Kittle House Restaurant and Inn has functioned as many things, including a guesthouse, prohibition-era roadhouse, school, inn, and restaurant. The house has been owned and operated by the Crabtree family since 1981, who have since renovated and restored it to its former glory. Since then, Crabtree's Kittle House Restaurant and Inn functions as a restaurant, private event space, and hospitality business.

Our experts will ensure wine pairings with special tasting menus will delight you and your guests. Fueled by a passion for great wine & admiration for talented winemakers, John Crabtree sought to curate one of the most extensive and well-rounded wine lists in the world. Over the years, we have developed relationships with some of the world’s greatest winemakers, whose wine not only is the best of its kind but reflects the place from which they were grown. Both our wine list and our cellar have grown since we began this journey, from our travels across California, Europe, South America, Australia, & New Zealand. The further off of the beaten path the better, our wines are all hand-selected and exceptional in taste, vintage, & story.

The Kittle House, constructed in 1790 as a barn and working farm for John Kittle and his family, has seen much over its 200 year-old history. Over the course of the next century, it was maintained as a farm and residence for the family’s descendants. In the 1880s, the barn was converted into a grand manor house, which is our main building today. Whether dining on our a la carte menu or participating in our Chef’s Tasting menu, our guests’ experience with our seasonal menu is rooted in a respect for the earth and a devotion to sourcing the highest quality ingredients from local producers. A wedding at Crabtree’s Kittle House is like no other — our historic grounds evoke the past while you and your guests celebrating the future. Our private event staff has the expertise & background to make the wedding of your dreams come true.

With a garden off of our tap room, it’s a perfect setting for a cozy dining experience with friends, or as a space for a cocktail reception or happy hour. The tap room room can accommodate 70 guests for a seated event and 100 for cocktail parties. Enjoy elevated, seasonal favorites in a cozy pub setting with garden views — replete with a rotating cocktail menu & full bar. The tap room room can accommodate 70 people for a seated event and 100 for cocktail standing. From the planning to day-of preparation of food and beverage, our wedding planning staff will cater to your preferences & vision.

The house and furnishings were designed by Charles and Henry Greene in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble of the Procter & Gamble Company. The house, which is a National Historic Landmark owned by the City of Pasadena and operated by the University of Southern California, is open for public tours. Stroll under our lush trellises and discover our garden area adjacent to our Tap Room, allowing for seasonal outdoor dining, and views of green vistas beyond. If you’ve had a chance to dine at some of Southern California’s best restaurants, you know the most memorable experiences are a combination of delicious food in a location with a delightful ambiance. However, there’s one incredible treehouse restaurant in Southern California that takes both of these aspects to the next level. If you are craving something different, this place will satiate your appetite. Our lush grounds, including Amy’s Garden, reflect the original history of the property while imbuing the sense of home from the Crabtree family.

Named for owner John Crabtree’s wife, she could always be found cultivating fresh produce or clipping fresh flowers. Overlooking the lush grounds and rolling hills beyond, our Dining Room offers an elevated, farm-to-table menu with dishes whose ingredients come from nearby farms. Executive Chef Widener’s elegant fine dining menu highlights the best of seasonal produce, and celebrates the beauty of the Hudson Valley’s regional cuisine. As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for. Where generations have dined before — experience the historic elegance, sweeping views, and true farm-to-table cuisine.

The Kittle House hosted celebrities, actors, and public figures in the Golden Age of Hollywood — including Henry Fonda, Margaret Sullavan and Talullah Bankhead. Since then, our Inn has been host to many looking to relax and enjoy what our venue has to offer. That tradition continues today, and The Kittle House has become synonymous with delicious, elegant and refined farm-to-table cuisine.

What we did not like was that the closet was right next to the bed with very little space in between. And, there was very little space outside of the closet to store anything. Some nights they offered Karaoke while other nights were a performance such as Rock the Prom.

Studio Cabin Lounge Stairwell

You can expect a space ratio of 30 gross tons per passenger on this ship. On this page are the current deck plans for Norwegian Breakaway showing deck plan layouts, public venues and all the types of cabins including pictures and videos. The 4000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway of Norwegian Cruise Line has 28 different types of cabins and suite accommodations in 42 categories. Seven of the categories are in The Haven, the Norwegian Breakaway's luxurious and exclusive boutique cruise ship hotel.

Studio Cabin Hallway

The other 21 categories are diverse and spread throughout 8 decks of the mega-ship. People who decide to board this cruise ship will enjoy all that Freestyle Cruising has to offer while being on the vessel to the picturesque island of Bermuda. Remarkable cuisine, family fun, and daily entertainment, as well as wonderful staff and crew, that's what you could get.

COVID cases among crew & passengers on NCL's ship Norwegian Breakaway rose to 17

We're often asked how many passengers are on the Norwegian Breakaway. When comparing the occupancy to the average Norwegian passenger capacity, you'll find that the average ship in the fleet holds 3,073 guests. Feel free to look at our graph above to see where this ship falls in line with all other live Norwegian ships. We use Vrbo for the times when we have rented a cabin for a weekend getaway, like this cabin in Townsend, TN, or needed to rent a house for a large family vacation.

The biggest differences are the ship’s size and capacity, along with its layout and offerings in terms of restaurants, bars, activities and entertainment. Food and beverage options are pretty much the same across both ships. Norwegian Breakaway deck plans are well designed, with separate decks for public spaces and cabins, allowing for quiet nights for a high percentage of guests. That is a major plus, as you’ll be sharing the ship with almost 4,000 other passengers.

We typically stay at Hilton properties, so we use the Hilton website. You can find good Hilton Honors discounts or AAA discounts for a hotel there. We make great use of our free night certificates from our Hilton Honors American Express.Click here to book a Hilton property. While we didn’t find the perfect bar for us, that really is because we are fairly specific in what we prefer.

We rented a camper van for a week to visit Rocky Mountain National Park for the elk rut and Custer State Park for the Buffalo Round-Up and had a blast. The program was easy to use and we really enjoyed the freedom of having a camper van for that trip.Click here to rent an RV. We recently partnered with Stay22 to add interactive maps to each of our destination posts. This will allow you to see a plethora of hotels and vacation rentals all in one responsive map of the area.

For a more traditional cruise traveler, that approach can seem like nickel and diming, but for those accustomed to resort stays, it's quite similar. On the flip side, Breakaway is also not a ship for those who prefer cruise traditions. The only old-school elements are singles gatherings, the small Norwegian Breakaway library (best to bring your own books) and mainstream ports. There's little true enrichment, and it can be hard to mingle with other passengers unless you’re staying in the Studio section, which features a private lounge for solo travelers. That said, Breakaway is not for everyone, especially those on either extreme of the traditional cruising spectrum. Norwegian claims Freestyle means "what you want when you want it," an appealing concept for those who wish to be spontaneous and in control of their vacation experience.

We did get lunch from the buffet when we first got on the ship. Honestly, that was mainly because it’s where we were “funneled” and we didn’t realize the main dining room was actually open. When booking a cruise, we have primarily focused on the itinerary and dates to determine which cruise is right for us. Being teachers with limited days off, the dates we can travel are fairly restricted, so that tends to limit our options.

I attended a martini tasting one day and Grant and I both participated in a Macallan scotch tasting another day. That’s the thing for us – he never gambles if he isn’t prepared to lose everything that he starts with. On past ships, we have seen $5 or $10 minimum bets for blackjack, which is far more affordable. Honestly, based upon the number of empty tables in the casino with idle dealers, Norweigan might have priced themselves out of range of a lot of recreational gamblers.

Compare that to the average ship length of all 19 active vessels in Norwegian’s fleet, measuring 987 feet (301 meters). That said, there are some experiences you can’t have any other way. So, when we do want to book a tour, we always check Viator first.Click here to book a tour. Plus, we really like unlimited mileage and not worrying about crossing state lines. We have even rented from Hertz overseas in both Slovenia and Croatia.Click here to book a rental car. If there are no Hilton properties available, we use TripAdvisor to read reviews and book the hotel.

The 120 oceanview cabins have a large picture window, but no balcony. Forty-four of the oceanview cabins are "family oceanview" sleep up to five guests and have a double sink and tub in the bathroom. The 59 Studio cabins are designed for solo travelers and have their own lounge. This hallway reflects the contemporary feel of the Studio complex. Follows the complete list of Norwegian Breakaway restaurants and food bars.

Thus, we typically aren’t picky about what ship or cruise line. As long as we like the itinerary and can get to the ship’s departure port and back home within our break, we’ll book it. Hidden at the top of the ship, The Haven features our most luxurious, well-appointed accommodations as well as 24-hour butler service, concierge service and private sundeck. Connect with the sea on The Waterfront, our quarter-mile oceanfront promenade. Step out into the breeze at Ocean Blue, a casual take-away with seaside eats.

Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal Bayonne New Jersey Updated 2024

new jersey cruise port

The Port does offer parking for cruise passengers, but that is going to run you about $25 per day, which can get expensive if your cruise is for a week or more. If you have an oversized vehicle, such as a camper or RV, the price per day is $50 or more. The Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, New Jersey offers convenient cruise access to anyone from the New Jersey or New York areas. Bayonne, New Jersey is home to Cape Liberty cruise terminal, about 7 miles from New York City and 3 miles from Newark Liberty International Airport.

The Port's schedule 2024 listed the liners Anthem OTS, Liberty OTS, Symphony OTS, Odyssey OTS, and Celebrity Eclipse. In 2016, Cape Liberty reported a record number of handled cruise passengers - 509,306, which was 2,4% increase over 2015's 497,780 passengers. By annual cruise ship passenger traffic, Port NY and NJ's terminals are currently ranked the USA's 6th and the world's 16th busiest. Sightseeing in Manhattan excites and amazes like nowhere else— and every neighborhood presents a fascinating, unique personality.

Purchase of transfer tickets can be made through your travel agent, cruise line or directly onboard. Disembarking passengers will have the option for bus transfer, taxi transfer or personal pick-ups after exiting the CBP inspection facility. The alternative is NYC's public transportation system (trains/buses to either Newark (Pennsylvania Station) or Bayonne (45th Street Light Rail Station), then you need to taxi to the cruise terminal. Newark' Penn Station serves regularly scheduled Amtrak trains interconnecting numerous destinations along the US East Coast.

This less crowded sea port is the main departure point for guests going on cruise with Royal Caribbean International, the owner of Cape Liberty cruise passenger terminal, and Celebrity Cruises. We’ve got you covered with all your parking options, including costs and discounts. If you are coming from the Newark airport to Cape Liberty, then picking up a cab at the airport is easy as you’ll head to the taxi station where you can hop in. If you are staying in New York, it can be a little more challenging.

Large pieces of luggage are not permitted on the terminal’s escalator. Elevators are available for those passengers with large pieces of luggage. Luggage will be brought to the terminal from the ship prior to passenger disembarkation and laid out according to the cruise line’s tag system. On a cruise from NJ, don’t miss a visit to the home of Alexander Hamilton in Manhattan, The Grange at 141st Street.

In October 2018, Bayonne City officials selected the company SeaStreak Ferry (1986-founded as TNT Hydrolines) to provide regularly scheduled high-speed commuter ferries for the NY-NJ route. The deal included leasing ft2/6040 m2 of land at Port Jersey's Marine Terminal. As of 2023, SeaStreak Ferry has a fleet of 9 vessels (double-hulled diesel catamarans) and operates on 3 waterways (Hudson River, East River, New York Bay) linking 8 terminals.
